Tumbling Exhibition 2024- Full Details

Friday & Saturday, May 31 & June 1

We are working hard in classes getting ready for this year’s tumbling exhibition! Our students are so excited to shine in front of their family and friends as they show off the results of a year’s hard work, dedication, and progress.  Please see below for your child’s arrival and demonstration time.

The Exhibition will give each class 15-20 minutes of demonstration time. They will arrive 20 minutes before their exhibition to stretch and warm up skills. Each group will have set of skills that they will demonstrate together as a class, and each student will get to showcase a few of their favorite “harder” tricks with their instructor’s supervision. At the conclusion of their class demonstration, tumblers will receive an award and can take pictures with their teachers and supporters.

  • Where: Expressions Dance- 128 W. Parrish Lane, Centerville

  • What to wear:  The uniform for Tumbling Exhibition is the recital shirt and any black athletic shorts, bikers, or leggings. Shirts can be picked up in May. All tumblers will be in bare feet.  The hairstyle for the exhibition is a slicked back ponytail. Makeup is not required.

  • When to arrive: No more than five minutes before your arrival time (for parking)

  • Student Drop off: The performance will be held at our Centerville studio (128 W. Parrish Lane). You’ll drive around Dicks Grocery and drop your dancer off at the back door of our newest studio, which is the very last door on the northwest corner of the building (behind AutoZone). The audience will drive back to the front parking lot and head through the front doors of our main studio (by La Puenta) to wait. After the class has rehearsed and warmed up (about 10 minutes), we’ll escort you into our new studio space for show time!

  • Guests: Each tumbler is allowed two VIP guests to attend the exhibition. Guests should arrive in the same vehicle with their tumbler. There is no fee for spectators.

  • Audience Etiquette:

    • Please lower voice volume in all waiting areas and studios.

    • Please refrain from distractions that will disrupt the demonstration.

    • Please silence all electronic devices before entering the exhibition.

    • There will be an opportunity to take photos at the end.

We have split up our Parent Participation Peek Week over two weeks to help with traffic and parking.

*Toddler classes do not participate in Parent Peek week.

Please review these important guidelines before attending:

  • To help avoid congestion in the parking lot and the lobby, drop your student off for their class, and return promptly 2 minutes before your time noted below.

  • Additional parking can be found along Highway 89 or at the LDS church northeast of our location (3317 S 800 W, Bountiful). Do not park directly in front of our building on 89 or cars can’t see to pull out safely.

  • Each student is allowed to have only 1 adult attend the class.

  • Please lower the voice volume in all waiting areas and studios.

  • Come prepared to participate in class!  Dress to move!

  • Please refrain from distractions that will disrupt learning.

  • Please turn off all electronic devices before entering our studios. Be present! Do not film or take pictures until the teacher announces it is acceptable to film the routine at the end of class. After that we’ll take a class picture.

  • Please do not bring infants or other children into class.

See the schedule HERE to know what day and time your Parent Participation Peek Week will be.

JUNE 12: FAMILY APPRECIATION POOL PARTY 7-9PM- SAVE THE DATE!

We are so excited for our ANNUAL FAMILY APPRECIATION POOL PARTY again this year! All studio families are invited to attend! Monday, June 12th, from 7-9pm at the Farmington City Pool! We can't wait to see you there!

UNDERWEAR TO CLASS

It's that time of year we would like to remind our female dance and ballet/jazz classes about our underwear rule: female dancers don't wear underwear, they wear tights.  A swimmer doesn’t wear underwear under their swimsuits and a dancer doesn’t wear underwear underneath her leotard. We need your help NOW before recital gets here.  Let's start working on it so we don't have panty problems at the performance.  THANKS!

WHY WE OFFER PERFORMANCE TEAMS: First, it’s important to remember that we believe dance is invaluable to ALL of our students, no matter how many classes they take!  Our company team’s purpose is grounded in our mission to provide an increasingly comprehensive education for those who want a deeper dance experience.  And while there are many reasons why we’ve chosen to offer a company team here at Expressions Dance, we can sum them all up with three overarching objectives. Read about them HERE.

COMPANY AUDITIONS JUNE 19-21: If you're looking for exceptional training and an outlet for dance then mark your calendars with the 2023-2024 Expressions Dance Company summer dates! Our company program is for dancers who want to be challenged to reach their full potential.  Find more info on the website HERE.

SUMMER DANCE! Keep your kids moving this summer! Hurry! The “Early Bird” discount on summer classes and camps ends on April 1st. View the summer guide HERE and register for class in your parent portal. Space is limited.

FALL ENROLLMENT NOW OPEN FOR ACADEMIC PRESCHOOL! We are now accepting registration for Fall 2023-24 preschool at both locations!  The benefit to our preschool is that it INCLUDES our dance and tumbling classes!  Get it all done in one!  There is no reason to sign up for separate dance, tumbling, and preschool programs!  We offer it all and have the BEST TEACHERS around!  Leap'n Learners ignites a child's mind and awakens a passion for learning and movement that will last a lifetime. Space is limited! www.goleapnlearn.com

COMMUNTY CONNECTION
This past month we were able to support the Woods Cross, Farmington, Bountiful, Viewmont, Northridge, Alta, and Davis Drill Teams by having our company dancers perform at their year-end showcases.  We were also excited to take a few teams to perform in a Salt Lake City Stars halftime show!  These performances have all been positive experiences filled with love, support, fun, high energy, and excitement! The dancers just love being in front of an audience and you could see it on their faces. We are so grateful for the opportunity to shine on stage out in the community.

FOR PARENTS OF PRESCHOOL DANCERS- APRIL THEME

Every month our lesson plan focuses on learning and mastering several skills. This month our theme is “Never Ending Story.”  We use our imaginations this month to explore our creativity.

This month we are focusing on: Left and right hands and feet, pointed toes, chaine preps, dance with a partner, straddle on head, excited faces, and showing personal expression. We are looking forward to a wonderful month!

FOR PARENTS OF SCHOOL AGED TUMBLING/ACRO STUDENTS

April Stretch of the Month- Shoulder Stretch  |  Strength Challenge- Sit ups

We are so excited this year to have a “stretch of the month” and a “strength challenge” in our acro/tumbling classes! Encourage your child to work on these skills at home to help them improve even faster!  Be more involved by printing off the at home practice tracker HERE

As the season progresses additional recital information or updates will be posted on the website, in monthly newsletters and on the school bulletin board. Make it your responsibility to keep abreast of this important information. Our goal is to make the recital an organized, exciting experience for everyone involved. The success of the show is a team effort of students, their parents, the teachers, and the director.

IMPORTANT RECITAL DATES:

  • May 20 Picture Day & Dress Rehearsal at Centerville studio

  • June 2 & 3 Tumble Exhibition

WHAT PROGRESS LOOKS LIKE IN DANCE

Achievements in dance can be seen in small ways and big ones, and we advocate for celebrating both!  In our experience at Expressions Dance, progress is much more about the personal wins than it is about the name or number of your child’s class level.  Click HERE to read about what progress looks like in dance!

Each night in Utah, 1 in 5 children is at risk of going to bed hungry.

When children are hungry, it’s difficult for them to learn, behave appropriately, or stay healthy.

  • Applesauce & fruit pouches or cups

  • Pudding cups
