Dad Dance 2024- Full Details

We are so excited to have so many dads participating in the recital dad dance this year! Thank you for being a part of these wonderful memories.  We want this to be a wonderful experience for everyone.  So, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call or email.

Dad dance rehearsals are scheduled by your dancer’s last name. We provide dads with two ways to learn:

  1. In-Person: You need to attend a minimum of 2 in-person rehearsals.

  2. Recorded: We will have practice videos recorded and loaded to this Dropbox folder after our first rehearsal.  Please practice at home!

Rehearsals are split up by age groups.  If you have more than one dancer, please look for your name on the list twice. The first rehearsal is for dads only! We will be teaching a lot of the dance to you before bringing the kids. Dads whose kids are performing in multiple shows have been assigned one show to perform in. Dads who have multiple kids are encouraged to perform with a different daughter at each show. If both kids are in the same show, you are welcome to perform with both kids at the same time.

Tickets for recital go on sale May 1 at 8am. Dads in the dad dance will need to purchase a ticket to the show so they can sit with their family in the audience. https://www.dancetoexpress.com/tickets

JUNE 10: FAMILY APPRECIATION POOL PARTY 7-9PM- SAVE THE DATE!

We are so excited for our ANNUAL FAMILY APPRECIATION POOL PARTY again this year! All studio families are invited to attend! Monday, June 10th, from 7-9pm at the Farmington City Pool! We can't wait to see you there!

UNDERWEAR TO CLASS

It's that time of year we would like to remind our female dance and ballet/jazz classes about our underwear rule: female dancers don't wear underwear, they wear tights.  A swimmer doesn’t wear underwear under their swimsuits and a dancer doesn’t wear underwear underneath her leotard. We need your help NOW before recital gets here.  Let's start working on it so we don't have panty problems at the performance.  THANKS!

WHY WE OFFER PERFORMANCE TEAMS: First, it’s important to remember that we believe dance is invaluable to ALL of our students, no matter how many classes they take!  Our company team’s purpose is grounded in our mission to provide an increasingly comprehensive education for those who want a deeper dance experience.  And while there are many reasons why we’ve chosen to offer a company team here at Expressions Dance, we can sum them all up with three overarching objectives. Read about them HERE.

COMPANY AUDITIONS JUNE 3-5: If you're looking for exceptional training and an outlet for dance then mark your calendars with the 2024-2025 Expressions Dance Company summer dates! Our company program is for dancers who want to be challenged to reach their full potential.  Find more info on the website HERE.

FALL ENROLLMENT NOW OPEN FOR ACADEMIC PRESCHOOL! We are now accepting registration for Fall 2024-25 preschool at both locations!  The benefit to our preschool is that it INCLUDES our dance and tumbling classes!  Get it all done in one!  There is no reason to sign up for separate dance, tumbling, and preschool programs!  We offer it all and have the BEST TEACHERS around!  Leap'n Learners ignites a child's mind and awakens a passion for learning and movement that will last a lifetime. Space is limited! www.goleapnlearn.com

COMMUNTY CONNECTION
This past month we were able to support the Woods Cross, Farmington, Bountiful, Viewmont, Northridge, Alta, and Layton Drill Teams by having our company dancers perform at their year-end showcases.  These performances have all been positive experiences filled with love, support, fun, high energy, and excitement! The dancers just love being in front of an audience and you could see it on their faces. We are so grateful for the opportunity to shine on stage out in the community.

FOR PARENTS OF PRESCHOOL DANCERS- APRIL THEME

WHAT PROGRESS LOOKS LIKE IN DANCE

Achievements in dance can be seen in small ways and big ones, and we advocate for celebrating both!  In our experience at Expressions Dance, progress is much more about the personal wins than it is about the name or number of your child’s class level.  Click HERE to read about what progress looks like in dance!

FOR PARENTS OF PRESCHOOL DANCERS- MARCH THEME

Every month our lesson plan focuses on learning and mastering several skills. In March our theme is "Leavin' on a Jet Plane." We will be taking off on an adventure to explore a different country each week. We will discover new styles of cultural music while incorporating valuable dancing skills. We are also starting recital routines this month! We will be focusing on: passes (ballet and jazz), toe/heel rocks, balancing, sad faces, chasses, and keeping our hands to ourselves.  We encourage you to get involved and have them practice their skills at home!

HAPPY LOVE MONTH!

FEB 3: VALENTINE’S BALL @ CENTERVILLE STUDIO

Don’t miss out on the chance to twirl your little lady on the dance floor!  Fathers, grandfathers, and uncles are invited to spend a magical evening with their little princess.  Dress to impress for the photo booth!  Invite your friends, you don’t have to be a current student to attend.

Sign up in your parent portal here for member pricing. Members can pre-register in the parent portal in the “Special Events” season for a special discounted rate of $25 per couple and $5 per additional daughter. Or, if it's easier, respond to this email and we'll take care of it!

*This is a special event to provide an experience for dads (or grandpas, uncles, etc.) to create lasting memories with their daughters. We’ll have other special events open to moms & boys too later in the year!  This event is separate from our "Dad Dance" that many of you have signed up to participate in at our year-end recital.

FEB 23: FAIRY AND PRINCE SKIPPING PARTY

We’re holding a fairy party! Preschoolers who pass off their skips in class are invited to join us for a Fairy and Prince Skipping Party! We'll skip, color, play fun games, eat a yummy treat, and get our faces painted! Parties will be held on Fri, Feb 23 at the Centerville studio starting at 3pm.  Your dancer will get an email invitation once they pass off their skips in class. Help your dancers practice skips at home!

FEB 1-14: FOOD DRIVE: HEARTS FOR HUNGER

Let's make a difference! Help us fill our bins with much needed food items to support the “pantry packs program” at the Bountiful Food Pantry. This program helps provide food to children in our neighborhoods. Donation barrels are at both studios. We are excited to provide a rewarding and simple service opportunity for our students and their families to benefit our community. Items can be brought to either studio through Feb 14.

Each night in Utah, 1 in 5 children is at risk of going to bed hungry. Davis county has 16,688 students who qualify for free and reduced lunch. When children are hungry, it’s difficult for them to learn, behave appropriately, or stay healthy. Thank you for helping make a difference!

Items needed to create Pantry Packs:

  • Individual microwavable meals (Mac 'n Cheese, spaghetti & meatballs, chicken & rice, chili cans)

  • Applesauce & fruit pouches or cups

  • Pudding cups

  • Juice boxes or pouches

  • Instant oatmeal packets

  • Peanut butter crackers or cheese & crackers (individual size)

  • Granola bars

  • Fruit snacks (individual size)

They got SO much love and felt really appreciated. :). We invite you to CELEBRATE our amazing TEACHERS by giving them a Valentine's Card.  We'll have a table set up in the lobby until Feb 14th. Thank you - the teachers and staff will greatly appreciate the LOVE!

WHAT IT REALLY MEANS TO WIN

At Expressions Dance, our competition students know right from start that we don’t compete to win trophies.  We compete to become better dancers than we were the day before. Click HERE To read about what winning looks likes for our competition teams!

PARKING LOT SAFETY

Please remember the drive through lane at Bountiful is not a waiting spot. When you are stopping the flow of traffic in our drive through to wait for classes to come out, cars back up all the way onto Highway 89 and it’s not safe. Help us by waiting in designated parking stalls and being courteous to other cars trying to exit the parking lot.

TINY TOTS TRANSITION TO INDEPENDENT DANCERS

Beginning February 5, all current Tiny Tots dancers will attend class without a grown up! Check your email for important tips on how to successfully help your dancer make this adjustment. Tiny Tots will now adhere to the studio's "Parent Observation Policy" and will drop off and pick up their student in the lobby. Parents are welcome to come and watch class during our Parent Peek Week in April. Having a designated day for parents to watch eliminates constant distractions each week and allows for much faster progress. All children learn and develop differently. We encourage you to allow your child to learn at their own pace while continuing to praise them on their accomplishments! We are so excited to watch these little dancers take the next step and continue to progress on their own!

FOR PARENTS OF PRESCHOOL DANCERS- FEBRUARY THEME

In February our theme is "Me and My Teddy." All month we will go on a fabulous journey with our friend, Mr. Teddy Bear!  We are exploring different varieties of music while incorporating lots of dancing skills.  This month we are focusing on: hop on one foot, tendu, developing rhythm, waiting turns, boogie, twist, rock'n roll, and saute jumps. We hope you can find time to review these elements with your dancer. It is a great way to get moving at home!!

FEB 12-16: BRING A TEDDY BEAR DAY (Pre-K and Preschool Dance Classes)

All pre-k and preschool dance classes will be dancing with their favorite Teddy Bear the week of Feb 13-17. Don’t forget to bring your bear!

Send your dancers with their hair pulled back (bun for ballet). STARS dancers must wear their uniform, pink tights (footless or convertible so they can pull them up for jazz), and ballet shoes. Please help us by sending your child to class in the right attire.
